Anybody on here built any F1 kits? I picked up a cheap Revell Ferrari F2005 kit, as I was at the USGP that year. Will be a first for me.

I've built a lot of F1 kits from all sorts of manufacturers, and they all have their eccentricities. Tamiya are pretty much the standard for high quality, accuracy and build-ability. They use 1/20 scale, which is different, but allows the parts to be large enough to work with without being weak. Revell kits are tough because they're 1/24, and they're not designed as well. There's a lot of filling and sanding monocoque halves after installing suspension parts. Ebbro, Fujimi, Aoshima/Beemax are almost Tamiya-like in quality, and usually offer race specific options, but can be fiddly and fragile. For example, the Ebbro Lotus 49 is beautiful and offered about 5 different cockpit, engine and transmission building options for several 1967 races, and I had to put part of the suspension together with tweezers!
And that's not even going into the cottage industry resin and metal low production run kits or the super detailed 1/12 or 1/43 kits. Check out some of the Tameo 1/43 world champion series kits!

I have a Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari 312T kit that is next on my “to build” list. Have a gob of aftermarket stuff to add to it. 1975 Niki Lauda!
