Not sure if this is the right section, but i am curious about something. When did racecars start being called "livery"? To me they've always been "rides"....like when Tide sponsored a car/team it was always the "Tide Ride". It jumped out at me in one of the new WIP build threads so i had to ask...see if someone here knew

I've never used livery. I really think it may be a regional term.

I think the term livery has been used to refer to the paint and sponsor scheme on the car, not the car itself.
