Are you guys filling them in and then paint and decal? Or leave em loose and try and cut the decal after its dry and solvaset?

Are you guys filling them in and then paint and decal? Or leave em loose and try and cut the decal after its dry and solvaset? All of my roof flaps on diecast are 100% functional. I decal over, let the decals dry, cut with sharp blade, and then Solvaset.

I use plastic kits, cut decals and then use a wash to highlight them
