So the highest dpi I can achieve is 600 DPI. I don't want to go alps so what are my options? Right now my unit is a Dell 1320C...Are Hewlett Packard any good? What's good for the money out there?

If you are paying that much for an ALPS, there is something seriously wrong. The most I paid for one was $500.

Waaaaaa? ? Clue me to where are you guys shopping? The cheapest I saw for a full on unit with low bandwith, drivers, cords etc.. was from that guy in canada on ebay...$1200

Just have to stay vigilant in your searches. My 1000 had 3 pages printed on it before the guy decided he didn't like it and put it up.
