I bought a 1991 Revell die-cast to make into a custom and when I took it apart the windows are all one piece mounted into the die-cast with eight rivets. I tried using a drill bit but the inside of the rivet is already hollow then I tried to heat up a exacto knife but the plastic was so thick the knife would cool down before I could even get through it. Has anyone come across this before and how did you get them out? Thanks so much

You picked the worst possible diecast to do a custom from. The old Revell diecasts are junk at best. But to answer your question, yes you drill out the rivets. All the new diecasts have rivets on the plastic piece that holds the roof flaps to the body. Check out the Tips and Tricks board for a diecast disassembly how to.

I was afraid you would say that I will check it out and hope for the best, thanks again Brandon.

FWIW the kits from that area are really nice and there are tons of decals for them. The kits also look much better than the diecast from that era as well.

How do you get the rivets out of those die-cast Damon?
