With the Salvinos kits becoming readily available, I'm plugging odd ball holes in my Petty collection. Here's my latest 2 builds: Richard's late season 1979 super speedway car, and Kyle's 1980 Martinsville ride.I used the updated rear suspension, grills, and bumpers. I further customized the rear bumper by removing the blended sheet metal, as Petty Enterprises never ran that on their Oldsmobiles. Tamiya and Krylon paints, Powerslide decals. As the Olds became the super speedway car of choice for PE in 1979 and 1980, here is my build of Richard's Firecracker 400 car. With the money issues with STP ironed out, it features the STP red stripes across the roof, and unlike the earlier runs at Bristol and Atlanta in the Olds, it has the large STP oval on the hood. Richard ran 5th at Daytona and 4th at Talledega in the Olds last 2 appearances in 1979. The long wheelbase cars were to be retired after the 1980 season, PE must have figured they could let Kyle loose with it at Martinsville and they had nothing to lose. Kyle lost a rear end and finished a disappointing 27th.

Very nice builds Brian. I just picked up one of the Petty Olds kits and was wondering if the earlier available Powerslide sheet comes with any smaller STP logos to be able to pull off the Atlanta car?

Thanks everyone!
And yes, the Powerslide 1979-80 STP sheet has the increasing size STP ovals to do the Atlanta car. I thought I had a photo of my build, but I must have deleted it. lol
