Hello all,
As part of the Ollie's model sell-off, I purchased a couple of the #88 Nationwide 1/24 snap kits. I have not built one up before nor seen any built up. Are they a decent kit? I am thinking of building one up as Jeff Gordon's 2014 Axalta Chevy (using the Powerslide Decals) but wanted to be sure they are worth the decals. Additionally, can I just sand, prime and paint or do they need to be stripped before painting? Thanks.

These kits build up fairly nice, with some modification. I would strip the body with 91% alcohol. Let it soak for about and hour, and the paint wipes off with a dry paper towel.

I love'em for building shelf models. Go together easily and there are plenty of decals available to build both the FoRdS and Chebbies. Like Reyst said, just strip the model in 91% alcohol and go for it. The only thing you need to do is adjust the stance of the car.

Thanks for the feedback, both of you. Can you explain how to adjust the stance? Also, any other simple mods you would suggest?

Shave a little bit off the rear suspension posts/“shocks”. For the front, I butcher the suspension some, drill new holes directly above the existing holes for the axle. I’ll take pics when I can.
