My son just made the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Youth Bantam AA team. I'm proud of him for working hard. He will rejoin his team from 2 years ago. His team 2 years ago(Pee Wee A National) went undefeated 26-0 in the league(first team in the history of the league to do it) and won the District Championship as well as the League Championship. They were beating top 80 in the country AA teams, and had an amazing 25-0 undefeated streak(league, non league, and tournament games) before losing their first game 1-0 to the #29 team in the country. They eventually went 46-2-1 that year with 3 gold and 1 silver medal in tournaments. I will revisit this thread as the season starts to keep updating for any that are interested in Pennsylvania youth hockey. The Phantoms are the farm team for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Do you know anything about the DVHL or the Phantoms? I'm assuming you do because of your reply. Where are you from my friend? Trying not to sound creepy ha ha.

My son's youth team has begun work outs for the upcoming hockey season. They are spending one month in the gym trained by a pro trainer on cardio and strength conditioning. It's quite odd seeing them dead lift 60 pound bars/weights, but, they are all doing well. They are also doing some parkor(sp)? or whatever that stuff is that you do when you jump from spot to spot without stopping. Our first tournament game is the weekend of Sept 14-16, if they win that one then they will be invited for a spot to play the championship round in Michigan(for the region), if they win that, they will be invited for TBD spot for champion for Bantam AA for the country. I will keep advised as things progress.

I'm not sure where it is to be honest. Have to win the tourney first. I will update as things develop. If you're from Michigan I will let you know via pm where it is and times, be cool to meet up for a beer and watch a youth game.

My son's team won their first game and luckily it was a league game. We took a 3-2 overtime win and let me say, we got a lot of lucky breaks to go our way. First tournament this weekend, I will advise at the end of the weekend.

This weekends tournament is the Silver Sticks Philly Regional. If we win this one we earn a spot to play in Port Huron(sp)? Michigan. Hopefully the first game jitters are over with and they start playing solid hockey like I know they can. I will advise on Monday the results of the tourney.

Well, this weekend didn't go as planned, they were plain out played by the three teams we played in the regional. We got our asses handed to us and humbled. Hopefully coach busts their asses in practice and we can still be competitive in league play and hopefully get a spot in districts. Next game is Saturday, it's a league game against the Warwick Wildcats.

Thanks, I feel bad for the boys, they've been working hard preseason. Warwick shouldn't be a tougher game, but you never know lol. I will advise on Monday.

We won our second league game against Warwick, came out with a 2-1 victory. This team better shape up and quick. Warwick is in last place with an 0-3 record and it took a late score (2 minutes left in the game) to come away with the victory. I know the kids are older and bigger than they were on pee wee, but still, this is ridiculous. Only us and another team undefeated in the league at this point. My son is looking forward to playing Varsity high school hockey in 3 weeks. He is the only freshman playing Varsity and completely skipping his JV eligibility. Anyone that follows high school hockey will know that Parkland has won 9 straight championships. I will advise as the season goes on for both scholastic and travel hockey.

My son played his first Varsity game last night (as a freshman), he had 2 shots on goals, completely botched the first one and he had 2 chances on that try alone, I think it was just nerves. Parkland continues to be dominant as usual, trying for their 10th straight league championship and keeping the undefeated streak going. If you think that is amazing, imagine not using losing a game in that time span, so, not 100% sure exactly, but, that's over 100 games without a league loss. Last time they lost my 15 year old son was 6 years old. On to travel, only 2 teams undefeated in the league, us and another team. We travel to Palmyra to take on the black knights, this will be our first away game and this makes me nervous, the boys are looking better but I have a feeling we drop this game. I will advise on Monday.

You're welcome. I honestly didn't think anyone was reading these . I'd love to hear about other teams that you guys might know of in your areas. I really enjoy youth hockey, probably more so than the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (15 minutes from me) and the Flyers (about 45 minutes from me). If you recall the Phantoms sponsored car #66 at Pocono this year. I would love to get decals made and build my son a car since he's on the youth team.
