Here's my final custom piece for this year's Mark Martin Fan Days this upcoming weekend. In honor of Mark's NHoF induction, I decided to do a totally custom Mark Martin Hauler Fame transporter. The combo is a Moebius Prostar tractor and scratchbuilt trailer with Moebius wheels and tires, my artwork printed on 3M vehicle wrap, and fabbed air lines. I had the engine all nice and detailed, too, only for it to be out of shape in some form or fashion... ultimately keeping the hood from seating correctly. I ultimately just glued the hood down. Sigh. It's 39 inches long after adding 1” to the frame. Each side of the trailer is a different collage of Mark Martin wins from various sponsors, all of his sponsors' names from 1975 to 2014 are screened in the background, and the back is a tribute to his five IROC championships. Thanks for looking. And yes, the pictures suck... but it's tough to get enough light on this behemoth for a decent shot. M

Mark is going to flip out. This is really neat. What a cool and unique idea, very well executed even with the hood difficulties.

Mark Martin Fan Days have come and gone... and it was another great event. If you're anywhere near Batesville, AR this time next year, you need to try and get by there. Very low-key, non-formal event with lots of opportunities to get autographs, chat with Mark and/or his guest(s), and meet some great fans. This year Mark also brought in a Vegas act (Recycled Percussion) and performed at least five shows in Batesville... free. Four of the shows were for local schoolchildren, and Friday pm was open to the public. Bill Elliott was there Saturday afternoon (albeit 3 hrs late) and signed autographs for about 250 fans who stuck around for him. I got to talk with Mark very briefly at one point (mostly about the '97 Japan race/rain/qualifying/etc.), as his pace was rather quick this year... and to be honest... I was bummed that I couldn't point out all of the details that I incorporated into the Hauler Fame transporter. After the event, I tried to explain my over-expectations to my wife, and she thought I was being too critical and that she thought he was actually pretty interested in the builds. I thought she was just being nice, cause it's a long ride home with a grumpy husband. Then I checked Twitter and saw that Mark had posted a picture of us with both trucks on his Twitter feed... from his phone. This is where it gets fuzzy. A) I don't remember this picture being taken, and B) I'm not sure where my neck went in this pic. Is it my Ryan Newman impression? We then looked through our camera photos and there's a different angle of Mark handing his phone to a security guard to take the Twitter pic. Again, I don't recall this at all. Must've been sensory overload, I have no clue. Regardless, he must've appreciated them more than I thought. The 10-hour ride home wasn't bad at all. Twitter post > link M
