On the heels of my Kyle Petty build-a-thon, here's my King Richard trifecta: 3 1984 STP Pontiacs. Using Powerslide's new sheet, and finding all the reference materials from the time that I could, I built 3 different versions of this beautiful car. Monogram kits, TS-23 French blue and TS-36 fluorescent red for paint, bare metal foil for the window surrounds and front and rear bumper trim. Wheels substituted for 5 hole rims from Ford kits and the rear bumper guards removed. First up, the Daytona 500 car. White "Son of a Gun!" on the rear quarters, all black nose trim and rear "Pontiac" in black. Was one of the fastest cars until the engine expired. Next up, an early season car with the reverse "Son of a Gun!" on the quarters. All fluorescent nose trim. Found a few photos of this car, but the race was unidentified. The front fender decals were the same configuration as the Daytona 500 car, though. And finally, the Firecracker 400 winner. Both red and black nose trim, "OIL Treatment" on rear quarters. straight "Goodyear" over the front tires, and rear "Pontiac" in red. Now to find a nice place to display all three.
